Avoid GDV with Wall Mounted Dog Dishes

Gastric dilation volvulus is also called bloat and it can be life threatening for your dog. The initial symptoms that most people notice are when your dog begins coughing to expel the pressure he is feeling. Then when checking their dog, the pet owner finds a seriously bloated and distended stomach on their pooch.

The exact reasons for this disorder are unknown and why it strikes some dogs repeatedly and others not at all, is also up for speculation. How GDV works is known, the dilation of the stomach may be followed by "volvulus" a twisting rotation of the stomach. This closes both the esophagus and pylorus preventing the dog's stomach from relieving gas by belching; it also blocks the food to advance into the intestines and stops the suffering dog from getting rid of the food by vomiting. This twisting also compresses one of the major veins carrying blood to the heart and causes abnormal blood circulation through out the dog's body, which causes shock and death. Hence the reason for the rapid progression of the disease.

By simply providing your canine with raised food and water bowls, you can combat this problem of your dog swallowing air when eating or drinking. With wall mounted dishes you can keep your pet bowls off the floor and make it easy to keep the floor clean where your pet eats; you can also put your dog's bowls at the perfect height for his individual size to keep him from swallowing air when he eats and drinks.

GDV can affect dogs from the size of poodles to great danes. No dog breed is immune from it. However with proper bowl placement and watching your dog for symptoms of GDV, especially if it has happened before, you can help your pet live a long and healthy life.

Keep Your Cat Entertained with the Leopard's Den

Keeping your feline entertained can be a challenge. Cats are smart and they get bored easily with the same old playthings.

Now and then it will be necessary to introduce something unexpected to your cat to keep her active and playing. Look into the Leopard's Den for your cat.

This fun toy will drive your cat to distraction as she sees three balls that roll with the slightest movement through nine holes. The balls can be seen from nearly any angle and your cat will have hours of fun pawing and batting at the balls trying to get them out. The more she bats at the balls, the more they rattle and move. Most cats wind up just jumping in the middle of it and rolling around and then getting back to the business of removing those balls!

The balls are too large to fit through the holes, so even if you have the cleverest of cats who is adept at picking things up with her paws - it won't happen here. The Leopard's Den is also lightly scented with catnip to further entice your kitty to enjoy playing with this cat toy.

If you've wound up with a small collection of balls your cat is no longer interested in chasing, and with mice she turns her nose up at and she otherwise isn't feeling the need to play with any of her toys because she's bored, jump start her curiosity with a fun teaser like the Leopard's Den.

Easy Camping with Your Pets

Camping is a great way to get away from it all with your family. Previously, you may have had reservations about bringing your family pet along for the weekend as they have a predisposition to wander and many pets are lost in forests and camping areas every year.

You can avoid this problem and take your family pet along on a fun family outing by giving them a safe place of their own to roam. A pet gazebo is the perfect companion to the camp out.

You can take your dog or cat along on the trip when you use a gazebo. They will be protected from sun, heat, biting insects and rain. The gazebo tent is made from lightweight aluminum and had a water resistant polyester fabric shell and floor. The gazebo zips shut and will allow your pets to enjoy a controlled time outdoors with the family.

Save on the kennel boarding bills and the necessity of asking neighbors to care for your pets. This roomy gazebo measures in at 48 inches x48 inches x60 inches and will accommodate more than one pet comfortably. For ease of taking along, a carrying case included. Almost all dogs love to go camping and many cats are surprisingly good travelers.

Next time you're planning a family weekend in the wilderness, include your furry four legged family members too!

Personalize Your Dog's Collar

One way to make sure that your dog always stands out from the crowd is to personalize their collar.

The OGO Personalizable Leather Dog Collar comes with new metallic letters so you can apply your dog's favorite nickname or name right on their collar. Just like you, your dog likes to feel like he looks his best and most dogs enjoy a new collar. These collars come with sturdy D-rings for leash attachment and they are truly made to last. They are available in a great number of choices such as the flat colors of lime green, black, and light baby pink. The collars come in a size to fit every canine from extra-small to the largest of necks.

The fun comes with the customization. You can choose up to 11 letters and slide them onto the personalization strap. Attach the belt to the collar and you're done. If you're dog has a name longer than eleven letters, opt for a nickname or a name you call your dog often.

You can also get a leash that will match the collar of your choice. This set also makes a great gift for someone who has recently gotten a new pet or just has a pet you want to spoil a little.

If you're a guy that wants to propose in an unusual way. Let your canine companion help with that. Get the letters to spell " Marry Me" and bring your dog in to see your beloved. You're sure to get a "Yes"!

Keeping Your Older Pet Active

Your older pet will need to stay active to stay healthy. Obesity due to over eating and lack of exercise is a large cause of many older pet's health issues.

Diabetes, hip and leg problems, and a myriad of other maladies can be hindered in their development by feeding your pet a healthy and balanced diet; also by exercising your pet on a regular basis.

Walking your dog is great exercise for your pet. Nearly all dogs will happily walk on a leash and even some cats are happy to trot along on a lead. If walking your pet on a regular basis isn't an option, you can always supplement walking with a good energetic round of play on a regular basis.

Many pets look so forward to playing with their favorite toys that they will go get them and bring them to you so you can toss them, fling them and roll them on the floor for your pet to chase again and again. Running, jumping and chasing play will give your pet a great workout. Older pets may not jump as much, but they will certainly enjoy chasing a ball or having a tug of war with a stuffed toy.

If your playtime with your furry friend has been full of energy, spend 10 minutes playing with your pet in a slow manner to allow them to cool down - this is the same principal as when you walk after an aerobic workout to let your body slowly and methodically cool down. Let your pet do the same thing and you will avoid injuries and have a healthier pet.
