Protect Your Dog's Paws During The Winter

When you have a dog, you will have to keep in mind that you will need to pay attention to the welfare of their paws during the cold winter months. Certainly, you have to worry about your dog being hyperactive and the possibility that he or she might slip under icy conditions. However, you also have to watch to make sure that chunks of ice and snow do not get stuck in between the pads on all of your dog's paws. Not only can such a problem become rather uncomfortable for your pet, but it can also lead to them slipping much easier as they are walking along.

If you happen to feel confident that you can safely trim the fur in between the pads of your dog's feet, you can do so while also making sure to keep his or her nails trimmed to the appropriate length at all times. You will never want to trim the fur too short, because it can lead to pain due to loss of protection from the ice and snow. It is also always important to be absolutely sure that you do not make a mistake and cut the pads of your dog's feet.

There are always dog boots that you can purchase for your pup, however you might find that he or she will not want to keep them on. In this case, you may want to look into Pawpro Ice & Salt Protector, which is actually a great spray that you can use on your dog's feet, legs and underbelly. This spray is completely non-toxic and works phenomenally to reduce build up of ice and snow on their fur!
