Is Your Dog Overweight?

After you have had your beloved dog for several years, you may begin to notice that he or she is beginning to gain a little bit of weight. This can be pretty normal, especially because they say that you and your pet can end up growing together over time. Often times, this can be due to inactivity or being fed a little bit too much each day. It is very important for the health and happiness of your dog that you begin to work on helping him or her lose weight as soon as you see the problem arising.

A great place to get started to help nip this problem in the bud is with the food that you are serving up. Sometimes it is a good idea to change up the formula of the food that you have been feeding your dog to one that is for older dogs. After all, dogs at all different stages in life will need different nutrition. If you are confused on what kind of food is best for your dog, then a quick call or a visit to your veterinarian may do the trick. He or she will be able to give you some insight on the best food for your pet as well as the type of exercise that they should be getting on a regular basis.

You might find that a new toy can help you get your dog out and about for more exercise. The squirt ball is a really fun and refreshing way to play fetch with your pup. Your dog will just love chasing after this fun toy so that he or she can chomp down and get a blast of cool water!
