Celebrate 2006; Year Of The Dog!
January 29th marks the beginning of the Chinese New Year, ushering in the Year of the Dog. The Paws Shop thought it might be fun for dog lovers to take a closer look at the beliefs surrounding man's best friend during this Year of the Dog.
In Chinese mythology, the Year of the Dog traditionally ushers in an era of goodness and prosperity that correlates with the many wonderful qualities found in our canine companions.
Generosity and selflessness are two of the dog's finest characteristics, so expect the Year of the Dog to be full of social awareness for those less fortunate. Instead of taking whatever one can get, a spirit of generosity toward our fellow man should always permeate any Year of the Dog.
If you are lucky enough to have been born in a previous Year of the Dog, (1922, 1934, 1946, 1958, 1970, 1982, 1994), you also share the same wonderful personality attributes that dogs are so celebrated for, including:
Loyalty
Faithfulness
Honesty
Protectiveness of home and hearth
Your keen sense of right and wrong will always be there to help you make the best decisions, for you and your loved ones, furry or not. Those fortunate enough to have been born in the Year of the Dog usually make strong leaders too.
So let's hear it for the Year of the Dog, and while we're at it, why not celebrate your own dog with some Kung Fu Fido Fortune Cookies for dogs, complete with funny fortunes to share with your pet.
Xi Fa Cai, which means: 'May you have wealth and prosper' in the Year of the Dog!
