Clicker Training For Your Dog

If you're looking for a positive way to train a new puppy or an older pet, clicker training may just be the answer. Clicker training has really caught on in recent years, mainly because it helps you train your dog quickly without punishment.

Before pet owners became more enlightened, they often used discipline to housebreak new dogs and stop them from other unwanted behaviors. While this method had mixed success, there is one thing it did for sure. It taught dogs that their human companions couldn't be trusted not to inflict pain, and the bond between owner and dog could never be as whole hearted once that trust was broken.

Clicker training methods are built on positive reinforcement techniques. Every time your dog performs a command correctly, you instantly snap your clicker as an audio cue that captures your dog's attention and then give him a treat. Clicker training stimulation done immediately connects your dog's action and a pleasant reward as one in his mind. In this way clicker training reinforces good behavior and makes your dog want to please you. When your dog doesn't get the command right, there is no clicker training reward. He soon learns the difference and knows what he has to do to get the treat. Eventually the good habits are so engrained the clicker training only needs to be used if he starts to slip.

Our Dog/Puppy Clicker Training "Getting Started" Set has everything you need to begin clicker training with your dog. You'll receive a clicker training booklet, a durable clicker, and a sample of healthy treats to use with your clicker training sessions. If you want to train your dog in a totally positive manner, we recommend that you give clicker training a try.
